Well, I am a little more than half way done with this book and I am learning that Janice is the innocent one. The entire time, I had it in my head that she was going to mess up somehow. I read the book Go Ask Alice, and Alice was given chance after chance but kept messing it up on her own. Janice is nothing like her at all. I really feel bad for her. I am at the point where Janice moved back home with her mom. I cannot even imagine how Janice feels. I am very close with my mom but Janice does not even trust her mom. That is extremely sad. I do not like her mom at all! What kind of parent picks men over their own kids?!?!? Janice still smokes pot, but who could blame her? She is just trying to deal with all of the problems that she had to face. I have high hopes for Janice right now.
Imagine being a very young teen and having to live in a homeless shelter where people want to kill you. You have to constinately watch your back and you have noone there to trust or to turn too. I know I would never be able to do that. Which brings me to my next sad thought. This book was taken place in the 80's. Now, even though that was a long time ago, there are people still out there like that. People who live in homeless shelters, group homes, or just out on the streets, people who do not have anywhere to go or anyone to turn to. This book is chillingly good, but still has alot of truth to it. It is sad, but if Janice could get through all she has so far, I know she will make it even farther. I can't wait to see.

Guided Response- Girl Bomb
- Discuss your ideas about the main character(s). Is the character worthy of praise or criticism? Why?
This book is set in the 1980's. It is about a young teenager who has no place to live. She chooses to go to a homeless shelter and endures a lot of pain and loneliness there. Her name is Janice Erlbaum. In my opinion, so far, she deserves praise. I am only on chapter 4 and i feel bad for her. Her mother is constintaly choosing random men over her. Janice only wants attention and love from her mother. And that is what every good teenage girl wants. Janice loved her mother and just wanted it to be them, without all the drama of men. I do not think Janice deserves to be criticized. So far, she has done nothing wrong. She wants to still go to school and is waiting for the nuns to find her a home. At Janice's shelter, she is already going through a lot. She is fighting for her life. There are many young girls there who have a lot of problems. Janice has fought off tons of girls and cannot even take her shoes off, without someone trying to steal them. She has been called nasty names, but has no where else to go. Janice should be praised right now. I know that eventually my mind will change, but so far so good. I really feel bad for her. She is so young and is already going through so much! I hope that she will find a family soon and will be able to start up school again.

Thirteen reasons why-guided response
I would definately recommend this book! This is one of my favorite books that I have read. I would recommmend this book to any teenager, or even young adult. This book was very touching and it had alot of truth to it. The truth was, people do effect others. Even if it is something small, it can still have a huge impact on someone's life and you may not even know it. It follows the morals of: respect others, treat others the way you would like to be treated, and dont believe half the things you see, and nothing you hear. This book shows how rumors can be started, get out of hand, and how they change from person to person. Being a teenager is hard as it is, but this book can help those in need. I wish that I had this book when I was in High School, because it could have helped me alot.
I would not change the ending of the story at all. I think the author did an amazing job at tying all of the knots up. One of the Characters (Clay) even changed the way he was. At the end of the book, he just might have saved a young girls life. It was a sad book, but it weighed out with all of the meaning it brought. I also hope that schools will allow kids to read this book or astleast assign them it, because they could learn alot about themselves and others.

Thirteen reasons why
Thirteen reasons why is an amazing book. I have read over half of the book in one night. It is about a young girl who commited suicide and left tapes for 13 people. The tapes are to be passed from one jerk to another. I call them jerks because they are the reasons that the young girl killed herself.
Clay is the first boy. He is the one that has the tapes right now. So everything is from his perspective. He is not in the book so far but he is fearing that he will be jerk number thirteen. Whoever is number thirteen, can "take the book to hell," says Hanna in the tapes. Clay has learned about everyone's secrets. People that he knows and people that he thought he knew. Clay is a boy who had a huge crush on Hanna but never had the guts to do anything about it. I feel bad for Clay because he seems like he would never do anything wrong or mean to Hanna but feels punished for something bad because his name has yet to be revealed.
That is all I will say so far. Next blog I will inform you on so much more. It is getting soooo good though!

Free Choice:LIAR
Liar. Yeah, that pretty much sums it all up. I was so fastinated by this book and really fell for it. Now, it is getting really confusing. I am very upset with it and if I did not have to read it, honestly I would have quit by now. Micah, the liar, is trying to convince me that she is a "werewolf" now. Talk about shocking! I am so upset with this whole book and I am trying very hard to stay interested in it, but I feel like I am losing the book. Like, every page I read I am not comprehending it, my eyes just scan the words.
At first, I could not put it down and was having a hard time not stopping, but now I cannot even get into it anymore. I think it is because I was not expecting it. I was expecting something like a regular teenager not some science fiction stuff. It does make it a little more interesting but I still have not caught on yet.
I am still on the fence with either likeing or hating Micah. I dont think that there should be an in between but now that everythign has changed, I am in the middle. I have not read a whole lot more of the book, but it would not suprise me if the truth was that Micah killed Zach or that one weird boy who keeps following her. LIAR
In reading this book, I am finding it very hard to stop. The book is about a liar who talks about how she was a "after hours girlfriend" to a very popular boy in school. She was not popular at all. Throughout the book she lies about everything to everyone. As rediculous as it sounds, it is a very good book and I cannot stop reading it.
I read this book every chance I get. I usually like to read on a couch or bed with plenty of light. I like to read in the quiet. Late afternoon is the best time. I read slow but with this book I find myself flying through the pages and still comprehending it. I just want to see what happens at the end!!!!! I definately would reccommend this book. Stephanie, thank you for letting this book be one of our options to read.

Go Ask Alice/ Unknown
I am going to blog about the book Go Ask Alice. It is about a girl who is constantly going through changes in her life. She lives with her mom and dad. Her dad is a college proffessor who just wants best for his daughter, Alice. The book starts with Alice and her family moving for her fathers work. She is not getting along with any of the kids at her new school and is not making any friends. Her parents begin to encourage her and she finally meets some. Her "friends" are not friends at all. They are just a bad influence on her, but she will do anything to have those friends.
Her friends were into drugs, sex, and stealing and unfortunately, Alice gets wrapped up in all of it. She takes it as far as running away to other states just to party. She stops going to school, and is more worried about selling drugs for her new boyfriend. Her boyfriend was the worst person she could have met. He begins to self medicate her. Pumping her full of nothing but drugs. He also begins to get abusive. Alice turns him into the cops and runs all the way to California. There, the party is still going on. She is homeless but still manages to get her fill of drugs, sex, and alcohol. She eventually returns to home and sobers up, only for a small time. It was unclear on how Alice died. Drug overdose, accident, or did some of her old friends get "payback on her?"
I believe that the books title is very symbolic. Her name was Alice and she became a nightmare. Go Ask Alice, is a book that I think all teenagers should read. It tell you all about how it was with Alice and can help you understand why people would do drugs. I also believe its called "Go Ask Alice," because its kind of a "doo dat."
